Provenance
This violin was owned and used by Alan Loveday in concerts and recordings for much of his career. It was on this violin that he made the celebrated 1969 recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, which was awarded the Academy's first ever gold disc.

Loveday also used the violin on the CBS recording of the Paganini Terzetto with John Williams and Amaryllis Fleming (the violin can be seen on the album cover), and for Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade with the RPO under Rudolf Kempe.
