A viola by Gasparo Piattellini

Florence, circa 1760

Little is known about Piattellini’s life in Florence, where he worked circa 1738-1780, inspired by the Florentine maker Gabrielli and the great Cremonese Amati family. This viola has ideal proportions and dimensions for modern players. Its sound is colourful and articulate yet warm.
