This fine violin was made circa 1790, probably in London, after Panormo had left his native Italy and spent the 1770s in Paris and the 1780s in Dublin. Typically for Panormo, the instrument is inspired by Cremonese work, in this case Nicolo Amati’s Grand Pattern. The violin is extremely well preserved, without any internal patches, and with a dry coat of original varnish.
