Born in Italy circa 1734, Vincenzo Panormo, worked in various locations such as Naples, Paris, Dublin and London. The French Revolution formed the backdrop for the Panormo family’s final move to England, where Vincenzo worked until his death in 1813. His instruments are mainly based on Amati and Stradivari models which he constantly improved during his career.
This violin dates from his final period and shows the full maturity of the maker. It is a generous Stradivari model with a well thought through concept. The flat arching gives brilliance and power to the tone.
