Postiglione’s work can be considered the earliest amongst the modern Italian makers, with instruments dating from the 1850’s to the early 1910’s, when he retired. With more than 400 of his instruments in existence he was also one of the most prolific makers of his generation. This violin is an especially handsome example of the later period of his output, with a fine choice of wood selected.
It sounds strong and powerful, with a clear range of overtones.
