Baldantoni had many talents and besides being a musical instrument maker and bass player, he also manufactured weapons. Believed to be self-taught, Giuseppe Baldantoni picked up on the methods and styles of instruments available to him. This violin shows the maker’s abilities as a craftsman and is arguably one of the finest examples of 19th century violin making in the Marche region. It has a strong and powerful sound that is perfectly balanced.
