This bow was made after Simon inherited the atelier of Dominique Peccatte, probably his most influential teacher. In 1850 Simon was still making bows for the Vuillaume workshop as well as for Gand Frères. This is a superb playing bow – the stick is strong, it is well balanced from tip to frog, and has a range of bright overtones.
