Notable Sales: Pierre Simon
Pierre Simon was born in Mirecourt in 1808 and moved to Paris in 1838 to work for Dominique Peccatte, joining J.B. Vuillaume in 1840. He produced many fine bows for Vuillaume, including those with the ‘portrait-eye’ frog. From 1844 he worked at 13 Croix des Petits Champs, and from 1846 at 39 rue Coquillière. In 1848 he took over Peccatte’s workshop when the latter moved back to Mirecourt, and continued to produce bows for Vuillaume, the Gand brothers and Georges Chanot. He relied in this period on the assistance of Joseph Henry, until 1851. He then worked alone at 179 rue Saint Honoré until his death in 1881 in Neuilly-sur-Marne
