The Voller brothers were skillful makers who remained largely anonymous during thei rcareers, making ingenious copies of master instruments sold by various dealers in Europe and America. This violin shows their familiarity with Guadagnini’s Turin period, and was made at the height of their career. The very convincing choice of materials as well as the model used is indicative of their deep understanding of copying an instrument in all its aspects. The sound is complex and colourful, with a powerful resonance and immediate response.
