Son of Alessandro Gagliano and brother of Nicola, Gennaro Gagliano is considered one of the best makers of the family. Rather than slavishly following the example of his father, Gennaro turned to Stradivari and Amati for inspiration. This violin, which is built on a very characterful and generous Stradivari model, is a striking example of Gennaro’s work, the half slab-cut maple of the back being particularly beautiful.
