Born in Levens, Nice in 1864, Bovis began working for Nicolò Bianchi in 1874, and succeeded to the business following Bianchi’s death in 1880. Appointed luthier to the Monte Carlo Orchestra, his instruments are of a personal model, but also following del Gesù. He was awarded a diploma at the Turin Exhibition of 1911.
