Paolo De Barbieri was born in Genoa in 1889, and was taught by his brother-in-law Cesare Candi. He established his own workshop in 1938, specialising in copies of Paganini’s ‘Cannone’ del Gesu, housed in the Genoa museum. His work generally bears an intense red varnish, and gained awards at Barcelona, Florida and Cremona exhibitions. He died in Genoa in 1955.
