Notable Sales: Jules Fétique
Jules Fétique was born in Mirecourt in 1875. He worked with C.N. Bazin and with his elder brother Victor before leaving for Paris in 1802 to work for Sartory. He stayed with Sartory for 15 years and developed a style which was very close to Sartory’s, and in 1917 he moved to Caressa & Français, but continued to collaborate with Sartory. In 1934 he established a partnership with the violin maker André Dugad, whereafter his work became more influenced by Peccatte. He was awarded the Diplôme d’Honneur in 1937 and is today regarded, alongside Sartory, as one of the most influential French bow makers of the first half of the twentieth century.
