Born in Ala di Stura near Turin, in 1718, Giovanno Battista Genova was a follower of Giovanni Francesco Celoniato, possibly his pupil. Their work is quite similar, although Genova’s work is somewhat looser, and less often encountered. He died in Turin in 1776.
