A violin by Matteo Goffriller
Venice, circa 1720
Matteo Goffriller’s output of violins and cellos is numerous yet they appear all too rarely on the market. The craftsmanship of this beautiful violin is absolutely representative of the maker’s work, with elegantly carved f-holes, a well-rounded scroll and a golden-red varnish. The tonal qualities of this instrument are superb.
