Born in Mirecourt in 1839, Justin was the son and pupil of Honoré Derazey. He acquired the business of Joseph Nicolas, and continued to produce instruments branded with that name, although also bearing his own label, and branded ‘JD’ internally. After his death in 1890, his label continued to be used in instruments produced by Laberte.
