Gaetano Pollastri

Gaetano was born in Bologna in 1886, the younger brother of Augusto Pollastri, with whom he worked until Augusto’s death in 1927. Thereafter he signed his own work, but remained a faithful follower of his brother’s methods and models, and continued to use his brand of a cockerel. He was an active teacher, mentoring his son Cesare, as well as Franco Albanelli, Alberto Guerra, Marco Dobretsovitch and Otello Bignami. He also played an important role in the foundation of the Italian Association of Violin Makers (ANLAI).
