Notable Sales: Charles Quenoil
Born in Mirecourt in 1878, Charles Quenoil was apprenticed to Victor Audinot, and worked for Charles Brugère in Paris from 1894. His own shop was established at 8 rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis. In 1935 he moved to Igny, Seine-et-Oise, where he died in 1952. His brother Victor (b.1889) and nephew René (b.1921) were also violin makers. Charles made copies of classical models, and specialised in cellos and double basses.
