Riccardo Bergonzi was born in Cremona in 1961, and began his studies with Stefano Conia. He graduated from the Cremona School in 1979 with the gold medal for that year, and continued to teach there, while established in his own workshop in the city. He has accumulated several awards, making instruments based on classical Cremonese models.
