The father of James Tubbs, born in 1814, William also trained with Dodd, and entered into business as the successor to Edward Dodd II. He worked for the trade, from various addresses in London: Crescent St Euston from 1841, Princes St Soho from 1850, Rupert St Soho from 1857, finally at 1 Rupert Court, from 1863. He was assisted throughout by five sons, and his work is varied and usually branded by the dealers he supplied. He died in 1878.
