Born 1904, Domingos Capela was apprenticed as a barrel-maker and cabinet-maker, and began repairing violins in his early twenties. Domingos was assisted by his son Antonio from around 1960 until his death in 1976. Together they won both first and second place medals at Poznań in 1972.
