Born in 1895 in San Marino, the small independent state surrounded by the Italian Marche and Emilia Romagna, Capicchioni trained in France before establishing his workshop in Rimini in 1929, where his son Mario, born in 1926, later joined him. He was very successful in his career, winning medals at competitions in Padua, Forli, Cremona and Rome. He was honoured by the city of San Marino in 1963 and died in 1977. His work is refined and classical, usually on models of Stradivari and del Gesu, with good transparent varnish in shades of orange and red-brown.
