Notable Sales: Sebastian Dalinger
Born in Vienna in 1735, where he died in 1809, Dalinger (or Dallinger) was a loyal follower of the Stainer model, often carving a lion’s head in place of a scroll in the Stainer manner. The workmanship is of a very high order, but the varnish is undistinguished, and varies from a pale yellow to dull brown. One branded example is marked ‘Sebastian Dalinger Vienna 1783’ on the upper back.
