Max Franke

Born in Küstrin, Austria in 1880, Franke studied with Otto Jaeger in Frankfurt from 1894 to 1898 before joining Heinrich Kessler in Mannheim, then Richard Heberlein in Nuremberg. In 1900 he was assistant to Albin Wilfer in Leipzig, and in 1921 he opened his own shop there. The shop passed to his son Joachim in 1956, before his death in 1965.
