Gianotti was born in Desio, Milan in 1915, and made his first violin in an American prisoner-of-war camp in 1944, but continued to develop professionally with guidance from Renzo Bechini. He attained awards in Pegli, Rome, Cremona and Bagnacavallo from 1956, and died in 1991.
