Thomas Hardie

Born in Edinburgh in 1803, Thomas was the son, pupil and assistant of Matthew Hardie. Following Matthew’s death in 1926 he worked independently at 15 Shakespeare Square, and from 1837 at 79 High Street. From 1847 to 1851 he worked with William Yoole, having found difficulty in supporting himself, and died in 1856. He produced instruments much in the style of his father, based on long-pattern Stradivari models.
