Notable Sales: Bartholomäus Karner II
Bartholomäus was preceded by an earlier maker of the same name, presumed to be his father, and worked in Mittenwald in the second half of the eighteenth century. The work of the first Bartholomäus is of rather poor quality, and dates from around 1714, but the later Karner adopted both Stainer and Stradivari models and worked to a more refined level.
