Born in Markneukirchen in 1835, the son of Carl Wilhelm and pupil of his uncle Christian Friedrich Knopf, Johann established his own bow shop in Dresden in 1884, where he died in 1915. His later bows are branded ‘W.KNOPF DRESDEN’.
