Born in Mirecourt in 1827, Claude Augustin was the son and pupil of Sébastien Miremont. He worked for C.L.Collin in Mirecourt and Lafleur and Bernardel in Paris before moving to New York in 1852. He returned to Paris in 1861, and retired in 1884. He died in 1887. Several prizes awarded at Paris, London and New York.
