Max Möckel

Son and pupil of Oswald Möckel, Max was born in Berlin in 1873. From 1897 he worked in Warsaw, Moscow and St Petersburg before returning to Berlin in 1914 to open a business in Charlottenburg. He developed his own varnish in Russia with the assistance of a chemist, Dr Golonin. His work is very refined, and he was the author of significant books on the subject of violin making. He died in Berlin in 1937.
