Notable Sales: Armando Monterumici
Born in Bologna in 1875, Monterumici trained as a violinist before studying lutherie with Raffaele Fiorini. He opened his own shop at 13 via Zamboni in 1907, having purchased the contents of Fiorini’s workshop after his death in 1898.This included several unfinished Fiorini instruments which he completed and labelled. His work can be a little eccentric and sometimes hurried, but his cellos especially are greatly appreciated.
