A violin by Carlo Rugeri
Cremona, circa 1710
Carlo, the youngest son of Francesco Rugeri assisted in the family workshop for most of his life. As such, his own work is extremely rare. Heir to his father's tools and the only son remaining in the workshop by the time this violin was made, the workmanship shows the full maturity of the maker and his attention to detail. The model used for this instrument is particularly delicate and elegant, and its sound is refined. The violin responds quickly and has a bright and colourful sound.
