Bowmaker in Strasbourg, born in 1785, the son and pupil of Bernard Schwartz. His work is in the style of Tourte, branded ‘SCWARTZ’ on one side of the stick and ‘STRASBOURG’ on the other. After his death in 1850 the workshop was continued by his brother Théophil, who used the brand on commercially made bows of lesser quality.
