Notable Sales: Nicolas Simon
Mirecourt bowmaker born in 1806. He worked in the Peccatte manner, producing bows in his own workshop from around 1840. The sticks are branded ‘SIMON FR’, the ‘FR’ thought to refer to his wife, whose maiden name was Frébinet, who may have been active in the workshop. Bows with the brand continued to appear after Nicolas Simon’s death in 1864, until Madame Simon’s own death in 1874. Another bowmaker also named Nicolas Simon (II) (1835-1880) was his nephew.
