Born in Cesena in 1922, Zani was self-taught, and worked on both classical and personal models, producing very clean work in the modern Italian style. He exhibited widely and was awarded medals in Rome, Florence, Ascoli Piceno, Pegi and Bagnacavallo, and also at the Cremona Triennale in 1966.
